I herewith submit to all of my readers a very noteworthy message. I did not write these three short paragraphs, but totally appreciate them. Bob Pappas
Memorial Day Invocation
Princeton, Iowa
May 29th, 2000
Almighty God, Creator of the Universe, and Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, thank you this Memorial Day, for those in whose memory we have assembled. Thank you that we live in this great land--our native land; Thank you for these great United States that has been a refuge for generations of immigrants; Thank you for those who gave birth to and have preserved liberty by their service in our Armed Forces; and, We especially thank You, and honor those who have given their lives that others such as we, might breathe free.
Thank you Heavenly Father for the strength that comes from cultural and ethnic diversity, but now Lord we pray for unity to serve Your eternal purpose. Thank you for a magnificent heritage of honor and patriotism, and that despite the storms of moral decadence that sweep the nation we can assemble to remember and honor those who have shielded us, and preserved the liberty that we enjoy in such abundance today.
Heavenly Father, we pray that you will constantly remind us from whence our strength comes, for it comes from You. Give our nation the integrity to do what is right and just in Your sight; the courage and strength to prevail against all enemies, whether foreign or domestic; and, we implore You to impart wisdom to seek and follow Your Divine will FOREVER. Amen
