In news around the district this week, the Escambia County Commissioners voted to approve rezoning of the Walnut Hill Oil Transfer Station, which will bring 25 to 30 new, well-paying and full-time jobs for residents. If you have a moment, please take a look at the article in today’s North Escambia, which includes the plan drawing for the facility and details of the additional rail spur that is being built to assist the future oil transfer station. It is always encouraging to see plans set into motion where the public and private sector come together to make good use of our land’s resources and create new jobs.
In other excellent news, our Santa Rosa 10th graders ranked first in the state on their FCAT writing portion results, and Santa Rosa eighth and fourth graders came in at third. My most sincere congratulations to our wonderful students, parent and teachers, who have put in the hard work, time and dedication into our student body to make them among the most competitive and top students in the state!
