This past week, I had the pleasure of attending the Skills USA expo event at the Pensacola Civic Center, where more than 2,000 high school and college students came to compete for a chance to ultimately go on to the National Skills USA Conference in Kansas City this summer. Participating students had the chance to put their creativity and technical skills to work as they compete for awards in areas including aviation technology, health care skills, programming, art, and many more. Visitors and students had the opportunity to get involved with instructors and industry specialists to better prepare them to become successful members of our workforce. It was a wonderful display of leadership and student involvement, and I thank Pensacola State College and the sponsors for putting this wonderful event together.

Also this past week, we observed National Prayer Day. I sincerely hope that on this and every day, we ask for His blessings over the men and women of our military fighting to keep our Nation free; and that we may remember our pledge that we are one Nation under GOD, with liberty and justice for all. This past Legislative Session, we were successful in passing a law that will help us achieve just that, by allowing Florida students to participate in, or deliver, inspirational messages during school events.
