HB 1175 Controlled Substances by Representative Clay Ingram (R-Pensacola) was signed into law by Governor Rick Scott. The bill adds dozens of chemical variations of synthetic cannabinoids and psychoactive bath salts to the list of Schedule I controlled substances.
“Floridians, especially our youth, are safer today because of this bill being signed into law.” Representative Ingram said. “With the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi this law ensures that this serious problem is eliminated.”
“This law bans dangerous new synthetic drugs and will clear Florida's store shelves of substances that are harming young people,” stated Attorney General Bondi. “We will continue to crack down on drug makers who are attempting to skirt state law and endangering lives. I applaud Governor Scott for signing this vital public safety bill into law."
HB1175 is effective as law upon the signing of the Governor, making these synthetic drugs immediately illegal in Florida.
