“$400 Billion in new spending will not fix the problem of joblessness and will only further the economic woes of this nation. The federal government must abandon these failed policies of ‘Borrow and Spend’ and return to sound fiscal policy that includes a real plan towards deficit reduction and a strategy for economic sustainability.
We are challenged by one of the most serious economic crises in our history. Massive government spending is what got us into this mess, but it certainly is not going to get us out.
Republicans have presented numerous job packages, like the comprehensive Plan for America’s Job Creators and my bill the Veteran Opportunity to Work Act, that create jobs and improve the economy without saddling our children and grandchildren with more debt.
Although I welcome the President’s participation in the area of job creation, I hope he will recognize that we need to move beyond his repeated unsuccessful tactics of the past and get serious about creating jobs, attacking the deficit, and stabilizing the economy.”
